The In Writing podcast is back!
...following a generous (work-shy?) eighteen-month break. Plus, join me for a Creative Hour this Sunday.
Season six of the In Writing podcast begins today, and – assuming that my upload has worked – you should already be able to find the first new episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or whichever app you like. (If you can’t find it, let me know.)
My first new interview on the writing process is with
, author, journalist, activist, public intellectual and serious force of nature. You can read more about her here.I’m not sure I’ve had anyone quite like Naomi on the podcast before. She’s doing a very particular kind of writing that carries a serious sense of responsibility (weighing in on consequential, sensitive and often frightening political issues) and requires a huge quantity of research. It also showcases a particular knack that she has, which I think is very rare, for digesting difficult ideas about the economy or history, and explaining them in a way that an idiot like me can follow.
I met Naomi in London when she was here in June, and found her funny, open and straight-talking. Even if you haven’t read any of her books – which include Doppelganger, No Logo and The Shock Doctrine – I think (and hope) you’ll find the episode really interesting.
As usual, this season is going to be a lovely mix of different kinds of writers, and I’m totally thrilled to be back. Let me know what you think!
I’m doing a Creative Hour this Sunday 6 October and would love you to join me. I’ll be on Google Meet at 5pm UK time (see timezone converter if you’re not in the UK) – paying subscribers will receive a link by email earlier in the day.
Until then, good luck with your writing!
Oh so exciting! I discovered your podcast through your fantastic episode with Geoff Dyer. Looking forward to listening!
I was so happy to finally have my favorite podcast back! Really enjoyed your conversation with Naomi.
