It’s been almost a month since I sent out a writing prompt to the In Writing Creative Club, and a lot more subscribers have joined us since then – so let me explain what we’re doing here. Every other Sunday, I plan some kind of exercise for us to do together. Last time it was a writing hour on Google Meet (and I am thinking of 7 August for the next one of those), but usually it’s a creative prompt that you can respond to in your own time.
(You have to be a paid subscriber to join in with the Creative Club, and if you’re not one at the moment, I hope you’ll consider it. I know that many of you are in the same boat as me: working away on something, or a few things, on an ongoing basis. It’s an understatement to say that that can be very preoccupying. The point of this exercise is to shake off any pressure attached to those existing projects and just have fun with writing for an hour.
Today’s prompt is very open-ended; I hope it will spark something in your imagination. Use it to write whatever feels right: a snippet of a story, a complete piece of flash-fiction, or even a piece of personal writing. Then – if you’re brave enough, and I hope you will be – share up to 300 words in the comments for this post. No one can see the comments except other paying subscribers, and it’s been really good to see how you respond to each other’s work with encouragement and empathy.
