As I write this, I can see that Creative Club #1 – which I sent out a fortnight ago – has 90 comments. Thank you so much to everyone who’s turning In Writing into a community.
I have another prompt for paid subscribers today, and again: do what you want with it. Last time you shared poems, anecdotes, intriguing snippets of novels and observations that made me laugh. This time, you could do any of those things, or invent some dialogue, or write a list. Write and rewrite something until it’s just right, if you like, or try free association or stream of consciousness and see what comes out (and then go back and edit and craft it, if you want to).
Share what you end up with – between 50 and 300 words – in the comments, and read and respond to what other people have done too. I’m not going to offer critical notes and this isn’t a workshop – it’s just a shared game to take the pressure off writing. I’ll have a go and share what I write too.
I’m not sure where today’s prompt came from, but maybe it has something to do with the fact that I had a birthday this week.
